Is there a treasure hiding amongst your loose change?
That question can be answered May 17th at Westdale United Church when the Peterborough Coin Club hosts its spring coin show from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Featuring exhibits, dealers and evaluations, the show is also of interest to those with an interest in paper bills, tokens and medallions. Coin club spokesperson Rick Stankiewicz says while old coins may appear valuable just based on their age, there are other factors at play.
Stankiewicz admits that while attracting young people to the hobby is a challenge, the show’s free admission for kids helps address that.
Beyond the show, Stankiewicz says the coin club is terrific outlet for those with an interest in the hobby, be it recent or longstanding.
