The largest annual fundraiser for those living with Alzheimer’s disease is fast approaching, destined to support thousands of local residents with dementia as well as their families and caregivers.
Set for May 24th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Trent University’s Justin Chiu Stadium, the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s invites participants to walk 14,790 steps – a number representative of those in our region diagnosed with dementia.
Society executive director Jen Johnstone says the ongoing success of the fundraiser, which this year has a goal of $120,000, is rooted in the fact that it’s client driven.
Johnstone says the walk has a celebratory feel that also provides hope and encouragement for those beginning, or in the midst of, their own dementia journey.
While the walk is held in communities across Canada, every dollar raised here stays in the region to fund local society programs and support services.
