Two Brampton teens face multiple charges following a robbery at a financial institution in Keene on Wednesday. The Peterborough County OPP responded to the call just before 5:00 p.m., when three individuals armed with weapons entered the building, demanding money before fleeing with Canadian currency.
No one was injured during the robbery, and an employee contacted the police shortly after the suspects left. Officers quickly located a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses and safely brought it to a stop. Two of the suspects were located in the vehicle and arrested.
A 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both from Brampton, have been charged with armed robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, and disguise with intent. The 16-year-old faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.
Both individuals are being held for bail. As minors, their names are not being released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with relevant information, including dashcam footage or surveillance video, is being asked to contact Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
