An 18-year-old man is facing multiple Highway Traffic Act charges after a vehicle was found submerged in the Otonabee River.
Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews responded around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday to a report of a car in the water off County Road 32 in Douro-Dummer Township.
First responders located the vehicle in the river but confirmed there were no occupants inside. Police say the registered owner and a passenger were later found safe at the owner’s home.
The driver has been charged with failing to remain at the scene, failing to report an accident, and careless driving.
