Peterborough police laid multiple charges over the weekend following six unrelated theft incidents across the city between May 3 and 4.
In one case, officers on general patrol arrested a 34-year-old man wanted in connection with three previous shoplifting incidents. Hours later, the same man was arrested again after allegedly concealing items in a Lansdowne Street store. Officers also found 4.4 grams of fentanyl and confirmed he was wanted in a separate April theft. He faces multiple charges, including theft, probation breaches, and drug possession. He was held for a court appearance.
Later Sunday, police were called to a parking lot at Hunter and George Streets for reports of a man going through vehicles. A 28-year-old was arrested following a brief foot chase and is charged with theft, resisting arrest, and breaching probation.
Three separate shoplifting incidents occurred downtown Sunday afternoon and evening, involving three women aged 32, 37, and 44. In each case, officers recovered stolen items worth under $5,000. One of the women allegedly pulled a fire alarm when confronted by customers. All three were charged and released with upcoming court dates.
Four of the six individuals were already bound by probation orders.
