The health-care system is almost like an iceberg – there is a lot more to it than just what patients see on the surface.
It was recently Doctors’ Day in Ontario and PTBOTODAY.ca spoke with Dr. Beth Perrier about some of the challenges medical professionals face.
Perrier says there is no doubt however that despite some obstacles, doctors embrace their role as community leaders.
Every day, Ontario’s doctors treat and care for more than 340,000 patients.
May 1st was recognized by the provincial government in 2011 as the official day of appreciation for Ontario’s doctors. The date was chosen to mark the birthday of Canada’s first female physician, Dr. Emily Stowe.
