Kevin Deuchars, a longtime volunteer at Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region’s Lindsay ReStore, has been awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal for his exceptional community service.
Deuchars received the national honour during a volunteer appreciation event held April 30th at Omemee Coronation Hall, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow volunteers.
Awarded to fewer than 30,000 Canadians, the Coronation Medal recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their communities, the country, or the Crown. Habitat PKR CEO Susan Zambonin praised Deuchars as a role model of dedication and community spirit.
“Kevin is not only a dedicated volunteer – he embodies the spirit of community,” said Zambonin. “His commitment to building brighter futures through affordable housing makes a real difference across our region.”
A retired educator, Deuchars has volunteered with the Lindsay ReStore since 2021, where he manages the lighting department with enthusiasm and expertise. Known for his reliability and positivity, he has become a key figure within the organization.
Originally from Hamilton and raised in East Scarborough, Deuchars has called Lindsay home since 2003, devoting his retirement to giving back.
His recognition came during National Volunteer Week, underscoring the vital role volunteers play in Habitat PKR’s mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.
