With goal of keeping people and their pets together, the Peterborough Humane Society has added basic animal wellness care to the spay/neuter services it already provides.
With support from PetSmart Charities of Canada, PHS hosted its first wellness clinic last week, offering affordable services for exams, deworming, flea and tick prevention, microchipping and vaccinations. The plan is to offer wellness clinics weekly moving forward.
PHS CEO Shawn Morey outlines the premise behind this latest pet care offering.
Morey says that being able to provide fuller pet care was envisioned when PHS moved into its Animal Care Centre a few years ago.
Morey says other humane societies are aware of the work the local society is doing and reached out.
