If you’re heading to the Miskin Law Community Complex to catch a hockey game, you best not go on an empty stomach.
Two city councillors – Keith Riel and Alex Bierk – are questioning why a concession stand, which was part of the $68.5 million arena’s original design plan, was not incorporated into the final result apparently as part of a project budget reduction measure.
Councillor Bierk says his initial reaction to a concession stand being omitted was the same as that conveyed to him by others who have approached him.
Councillor Bierk says what’s important to him is to find out how the decision to cut the concession stand feature was made and why.
Councillor Bierk says, at the end of the day, it’s about lost opportunity, in terms of both lost revenue and the community feel of an arena.
