For Green Party candidate Maxwell Groves, healthcare, transit and housing are key priorities he sees facing the residents of Northumberland Peterborough South in the upcoming provincial election where he’ll be running for MPP on February 27th.
Maxwell Groves was born and raised in Port Hope and went to Port Hope High School. Groves says he did volunteer work at CHUC radio in Cobourg that eventually turned into full time employement, but decide to move on to work in IT, ultimately working for the Ministry of Health.

Maxwell decided to run for the Green Party because he feels rural communities are overlooked and treated unfairly by mainstream political parties. He believes they need stronger representation in government.
An avid outdoorsman and conservationist, Maxwell enjoys camping and canoeing. He is passionate about safeguarding watersheds, preserving farmland, and promoting ecological agricultural practices, including sustainable farming methods.
When asked for his top three issues in the riding, Groves had this to say.
Seeing how limited transit options have impacted his neighbours’ ability to travel to the city for medical appointments, Maxwell aims to push for expanded transit services.
He believes better transit connections are essential for ensuring everyone can access the services they need.
Our final question, posed to all candidates was their opinion on the snap election – was it necessary?
Maxwell says he’s focused on promoting Green values and policies, focusing on genuine climate action, affordable housing, and improving public transit in rural Ontario.
Under his leadership, the push for a sustainable future will be a key priority in this election.
