Well, Peterborough once again felt the wrath of Old Man Winter.
Our region, like other parts of Ontario, was slammed with snow late Wednesday into Thursday. A Snowfall Warning was in effect for several hours has been removed by Environment Canada, but a Blowing Snow Advisory remains.
According to the forecast, winds from the northwest or west gusting to near 60 km/h will persist into the night time. These winds, combined with the freshly fallen snow, will produce near zero visibility at times in blowing snow. In addition, given existing snow banks these winds will lead to the development of snow drifts onto roadways which will impact travel. Winds will gradually weaken through Friday morning.
City crews are continuing to clean, maintaining 978 lane kilometres of road, 450 kilometres of sidewalks, 39 kilometres of trails, and 650 bus stops. More information on the City’s snow removal operations and winter parking restrictions can be found at peterborough.ca/snow.
