A local school board is ending its time one particular social media platform.
The Trillium Lakelands District School Board has announced it will no longer use X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, citing declining engagement and concerns over content policies.
In a statement, TLDSB said it had observed a significant drop in user interaction over the past year, and recent changes to the platform’s adult content policy contributed to the decision to discontinue its presence “effective immediately.”
“We believe it no longer serves the purpose of communicating with our communities,” the board said.
TLDSB reassured parents and stakeholders that it remains committed to sharing updates through alternative channels, including SchoolMessenger, its website (tldsb.ca), Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
TLDSB encompasses the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton, and Muskoka.
