Three people were taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation after a structure fire broke out at a residence on Kent Street East in Lindsay.
The Kawartha Lakes Police Service and Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue Service responded to the fire at approximately 11:16 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, emergency crews found an active fire inside the occupied home.
Firefighters quickly located and evacuated three residents, who were then transported to Ross Memorial Hospital by Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Services. Their conditions have not been released.
The fire was extinguished without damage to neighbouring properties or injuries to emergency personnel. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate, and the scene remains secured pending further examination.
