A head-on collision on Highway 7 near Tweed has left one person deceased.
Officers with the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with members of the Tweed Fire Department and Hastings Quinte Paramedic Service, responded to the crash on Monday, shortly after 10:00am, near Flinton Road, northeast of Tweed.
A car and tractor trailer had collided head-on, with the driver of the car being ejected from his vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport did not suffer any serious physical injuries.
The deceased has been identified as a 61-year-old man from Peterborough.
The investigation by Central Hastings OPP into the collision continues, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team.
The highway reopened shortly before 9:00 p.m.
