The City of Peterborough’s Dance the Boro project has been selected for the My Main Street Community Activator initiative, which will help boost the vibrancy of downtown Peterborough.
The free community dance classes, held Friday evenings and Saturday mornings from September 27th to October 19th at Quaker Foods City Square, were designed to encourage residents to come downtown for fun, movement, and connection.
The support from the initiative was used to make permanent improvements to Quaker Foods City Square, with additions that include a portable stage, benches, planters, removable bollards, bike racks, and outdoor speakers, all intended to enhance the visitor experience and contribute to the overall vibrancy of the downtown area. The enhancements aim to drive more foot traffic to the area, benefiting local businesses and supporting the economic vitality of the community.
The My Main Street Community Activator program, which is delivered by the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI), is supported by a federal investment through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). It focuses on projects that create more vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive communities while fostering economic growth.
