“The Otonabee River Man” cold case has taken a huge step forward.
According to an official police report, Peterborough Detective Sgt. Josh McGrath says that they now know the name of the deceased and a handful of details of his death back in the 1980s.
The identification was made possible by a collaboration between Peterborough Police and a Texas-based forensic genetic genealogy company who were able to positively identify Gerald Durocher’s remains.
Even with the latest details from genetic genealogy specialists at Othram, little else is yet known about the final days of Durocher’s life.
Peterborough Police are urging anyone who might have had dealings with Durocher or have any insight as to his activities to come forward.
