If you’ve been thinking of adopting a dog or cat, there’s no better time than right now.
In a bid to lessen the numbers of animals awaiting adoption at its Animal Care Centre, the Peterborough Humane Society is reducing adoption fees by 50 percent until the end of December.
Society executive director Shawn Morey says the Home for the Holidays campaign is all about getting the more than 120 animals in their care into loving homes.
Morey says the adoption of more animals alleviates pressure on society staff in terms of their upkeep.
While the society urges people not to make the impulse decision to gift an animal this Christmas, Morey says the holiday season, when people are home more, is a perfect time to adopt an animal.
