To accommodate the Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, Dec. 7, parking and road access in downtown areas will be restricted.
Parking Restrictions:
Parking will be prohibited along George Street North and nearby side streets south of Parkhill Road starting at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 7. Vehicles parked in restricted areas after this time will be ticketed and towed to Morrow Park’s parking lot on Roger Neilson Way.
The City encourages parade-goers to park in municipal lots or garages, which are offering free two-hour parking through a holiday program sponsored by Wolfe Personal Injury Lawyers. Voluntary parking fees paid during December support Kawartha Food Share.
Road Closures:
George Street will close from Parkhill Road to Brock Street at 3:30 p.m. for parade staging. Additional closures include:
Antrim, Edinburgh, Dublin, London, McDonnel, and Murray streets (Aylmer Street to Water Street)
Princess Street (George Street to Park Street)
Aylmer Street (Lansdowne Street to Romaine Street)
The parade begins at 4:45 p.m. at McDonnel Street and proceeds south on George Street toward Lansdowne Street, ending at Princess Street. All road closures are expected to lift by 7:30 p.m.
Transit Detours:
Peterborough Transit routes #2, #4, #6, #9, #22, and #23 will detour around George Street starting at 3:30 p.m.
Residents and visitors are urged to follow parking regulations and respect road closures to ensure a smooth event.
