The City of Peterborough’s new Miskin Law Community Complex, a $68.5-million multi-use facility at Lansdowne and Park streets, is set to open in January 2025.
City officials say an opening ceremony is planned, with details expected to be released in December.
The complex, nearing the end of its construction phase, will feature a twin-pad arena, a branch of the Peterborough Public Library, an indoor walking track, multi-purpose spaces, and leasable office areas. Originally slated for completion in late December 2024, the opening has been delayed by a few weeks to ensure quality standards are met.
The City will implement a phased opening of the facility, allowing community groups to access the arena and event spaces beginning January 15th. The library branch, meanwhile, is scheduled to open in February. Following the formal opening event, the City plans to invite residents to explore the complex, offering free public skating sessions to encourage community participation.
To accommodate arena user groups and upcoming tournaments, the City will work with user groups to coordinate scheduled use and rentals of ice time. Minor work may continue in off-peak hours as finishing touches are completed, though this is not expected to interfere with regular activities.
Additional community events, as well as the unveiling of other areas within the facility, are expected to follow in the weeks after the opening. Residents can look forward to a timeline of events and further updates, which will be posted on the City’s website at peterborough.ca/mlcc.
