The Ontario government is investing over $10 million in Peterborough County to improve emergency care and increase ambulance availability.
A six per cent boost in land ambulance funding brings the province’s total investment in the region to $10,037,559 this year. This funding aims to help the Peterborough County-City Paramedics handle rising service costs and demand due to population growth and increased 911 calls.
Additionally, Ontario is investing $607,727 through the Dedicated Offload Nurses Program to reduce delays at hospitals by hiring more nurses to assist with offloading ambulance patients. This initiative has helped cut ambulance offload times by over 50 per cent since October 2022, allowing paramedics to respond to emergencies faster.
