Trent University chancellor Dr. Stephen Stohn has had his term extended for another year.
Dr. Stohn was appointed Trent’s 12th chancellor in 2019 and was re-appointed to a second three-year term in 2021. His new term is effective July 25th of next year.
Dr. Stohn has been the University’s chancellor for six years, acting as champion for key Trent initiatives. He has served as an ambassador for Trent’s Momentous Campaign, notably contributing to the award-winning gratitude video. In addition to his leadership in philanthropy, Dr. Stohn has been deeply involved in alumni engagement, attending chapter events across the country, hosting reunions, and fostering connections with graduates and the community at events like Head of the Trent and Trent Day.
“When you get to this point in your life and career, after you’ve had some personal and professional success, it just feels right to give back and help the generation who are just starting out and looking at fulfilling their aspirations,” said Dr. Stohn. “I’m really enjoying the role of chancellor and having opportunities to collaborate with amazing students, faculty, and staff, supporting their success and the work Trent continues to do to make a difference for our communities.”
The role of the chancellor includes conferring all degrees and diplomas, and sitting as a member of Trent’s board of governors and senate.
