Northumberland OPP say they’ve charged a 28-year-old woman from Havelock with impaired operation following a public complaint in Campbellford.
Police responded to a report around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, of a possible impaired driver on Grand Road. Officers located a vehicle matching the description on County Road 30, where they say they observed the driver struggling to maintain her lane.
Upon stopping the vehicle, police report finding a 5-year-old child in the back seat. After interacting with the driver, officers say they suspected impairment by alcohol, leading to the driver’s arrest. She has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The OPP continue to encourage the public to report impaired drivers by calling 911.
