Could local voters being going to the polls in the near future?
News broke from Ottawa on Wednesday when NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh announced in a social media video he ripped up the supply and confidence deal with the Liberals.
The deal was reached in March 2022 between Singh and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and guaranteed NDP caucus support on key votes in exchange for commitments to priorities such as dental care and pharmacare.
“The Liberals have let people down. They don’t deserve another chance from Canadians.”
This doesn’t automatically mean an election will be called, instead the New Democrats will determine how to vote on Liberal legislation on a case-by-case basis.
The 45th Canadian federal election will take place on or before October 20th, 2025.
