Peterborough City Council members will attend the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference in Ottawa from August 18th to 21st to address key issues with provincial officials. The City has secured meetings with the Attorney General, Minister of Sport, Associate Minister of Housing, and Parliamentary Assistants from the Ministries of Finance and Infrastructure.
Mayor Jeff Leal and other council members will discuss topics such as modernizing the municipal fiscal framework, supporting homelessness programs, and infrastructure for housing and recreation. Leal, also Chair of the Eastern Ontario Mayors’ Caucus, will advocate for mental health and addictions support closer to home for Eastern Ontario residents.
The AMO conference, which will draw around 2,500 municipal representatives, offers a platform for local leaders to engage directly with provincial counterparts on pressing issues.
