The Peterborough Jr. A Lakers secured a 9-5 home win over the Mimico Mountaineers last night in game 1 of their best-of-five OJLL semi-final series. The victory marks their fourth straight win in the postseason.
Nate Sage, Frank Coyle, and DJ Clark each contributed two goals, with Clark also adding an assist. Nick Roode added a goal and three assists, while Colby Wood chipped in with a goal and two assists. The Lakers’ well-rounded attack was further supported by assists from Alexander Hicks, Finley Watson, Nick Dilauro, who all had two each, and Sam Trumble who assisted on a key Sage goal early in the third.
Goaltender Cole Gervais was spectacular in net once again for the Lakers, making 32 saves in the win.
The series continues tomorrow at 8pm in Mimico, with game 3 returning to the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Friday.
