Scores of supporters gathered at Nicholls Oval this past Saturday for the second annual “Change the Cycle” cycling fundraiser, organized by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR). Participants pedaled their way towards a remarkable achievement, raising $25,500 in support of Family and Youth Mental Health initiatives.
The event, which has quickly become a staple in Peterborough’s community calendar, saw a doubling in participation from last year, with 74 riders taking part. This surge in numbers reflects a growing dedication among locals to tackle mental health challenges facing young people and families.
“We are thrilled by the overwhelming support from our community,” remarked event organizer Sarah Johnson. “The sunny weather certainly added to the positive energy, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.”
Funds raised from the event will directly benefit CMHA HKPR’s efforts to expand mental health resources and support programs locally. As mental health awareness continues to gain traction, events like “Change the Cycle” serve as a vital reminder of the power of community solidarity in fostering positive change.
