Save Bonnerworth Park is continuing to press hard for a reversal of the city council decision to redevelop the greenspace for 16 pickleball courts, an expanded skate park, a bike pump track, and an 80-vehicle parking lot.
This coming Monday (June 10) at 5:30 p.m., another protest of the project is planned for outside Peterborough city hall where councillors will be meeting. This follows a similar protest held in May and a rally at the park that drew about 250 people.
Richard Scott, a member of the group and park neighbour, says Save Bonnerworth Park’s online petition has 4,500 signatures with another 1,500 having signed a hard copy.
Of note, says Scott, the group is drawing support from across the city – not just from those living in the park’s immediate vicinity.
Scott says Save Bonnerworth Park is as unified and determined as it has ever been.
