With the dissolution of Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development, a new chapter is about to start for Peterborough County.
Officials put out a statement shortly after the news broke and want residents to know the County is undertaking a strategic
transition of Economic Development and Tourism services from a regional platform to in-house operations.
Back in April, Peterborough County established a dedicated Economic Development Transition Committee comprised of council members, including Mayor Sherry Senis, Mayor Heather Watson, and Mayor Jim Martin, alongside the Warden, and proficient county
and township staff.
The Economic Development Transition Task Force, as part of their Phase 1 recommendations, has a report going to County Council on June 5th. Staff say Phase 1, aims to streamline promotional endeavors, fostering closer collaboration between land use planning and economic growth. Additionally, the integration promises enhanced services and optimized resource utilization, encompassing our Geographic Information Systems and Communications divisions.
