A two-vehicle collision on County Road 507 near Buckhorn claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough County OPP responded to the collision just after 1pm, which involved a southbound motorcycle and a northbound pickup truck. Witnesses reported that the motorcycle crossed the center line on a bend, leading to a head-on collision.
Both vehicles caught fire following the crash, but the truck’s occupants, a 25-year-old male driver and a 26-year-old female passenger, managed to escape with only minor injuries from the airbags. Both vehicles were destroyed by the fire.
Despite CPR efforts by witnesses and emergency responders, the motorcyclist, a 57-year-old man from Woodville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
County Road 507 was closed for several hours as police conducted an investigation and collision reconstruction. Authorities are asking any witnesses or anyone with video footage of the incident to contact the Peterborough County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
