With that, the 46th Annual Knights of Columbus Police Appreciation Night is in the books.
Several officers and dozens of family members gathered in Bishop Doyle Hall for the event. Firstly, this year six citizens were recognized for their assistance in three separate cases and multiple officers in the community. Peterborough Police Chief Stu Betts says more about the Outstanding Citizen Recognition Awards.
The honoured were June, Arla and Carrie for their assistance with a case in 2020, Christopher for his assistance in 2022, and Ryan and Nicole for their assistance in 2023.
The other awards remained similar to the year prior (Including the Carol Winter Humanitarian Award, Presentation of Service Award Medal to Sworn Members and Civilian Members) but this year they included the OWLE (Ontario Women in Law Enforcement) going to Sergeant Nancy Loucks, Constable Stacey Rutherford, Alison Kirkland and Loranne Thompson.
The ceremony’s main installment, the Knights of Columbus Meritorious Service Award, went to officer to receive the award was Constable Joshua Gibbs. Chief Betts reflected on the community.
With the event in the rearview, Longtime Chair of the Appreciation Night, Bob Blakely, left some positive words.
