The unemployment rate crept up in Peterborough last month.
According to Statistics Canada’s latest report, the jobless rate in the city was 6 per cent in April, up from 5.8 per cent in March.
Nationally, the rate held firm at 6.1 per cent.
The economy also created 90,000 new jobs which was the largest monthly increase since January of 2023.
Economists say the Bank of Canada will have an eye on Friday’s numbers as it gears up for its interest rate decision next month.
