An 18-year-old man from Oshawa and a 47-year-old woman from Scarborough are facing charges following separate incidents at a Peterborough business on Monday afternoon, after police were called to a Chemong Road business by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer (LPO).
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a male and a female had entered the store, with the male observed taking packages of cold prevention medication and concealing them inside his jacket. The stolen items were recovered, and further investigation revealed that the man had been arrested for theft-related incidents across the GTA over the past month.
Later that day, the LPO called the police again when the woman returned to the store looking for the man. She then became upset and spat on the security officer before leaving. Police located her in the area of Chemong Road and Towerhill Road and took her into custody. It was later discovered that she was wanted by another police service for theft under $5000 and was facing similar charges in other jurisdictions across the GTA.
