Residents of Peterborough and surrounding areas are lacing up their shoes for the upcoming Walk for Alzheimer’s, set to take place at Trent University’s Justin Chiu Stadium on May 25th from 10 am to noon.
The annual family and pet-friendly event, sponsored by IG Wealth Management, aims to raise both awareness and funds for those affected by dementia. With the goal of walking 14,340 steps, symbolizing the number of people who have been diagnosed in the region, organizers hope to collect $114,340 for local programs and services.
The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is the largest fundraising event in Canada for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Funds raised from the event stay within the local community, providing support for life-changing programs and services aimed at improving the lives of people living with dementia and helping them stay in their homes and communities longer.
