Those who doubt pickleball’s popularity in the wake of all the noise surrounding the planned redevelopment of Bonnerworth Park, take note – spring registration for the sport saw hundreds sign up within minutes.
According to Peterborough Pickleball Association director Bill O’Byrne, when registration for the spring season opened April 21st at 7 a.m., more than 400 people registered. O’Byrne says that response speaks to the sport’s still growing draw.
O’Byrne adds while the social aspect of the game is huge, there is an opportunity for players who want to play at a higher level.
O’Byrne says the redevelopment of Bonnerworth Park for pickleball makes the most of an urban space that is underused.
Registration for the summer pickleball season will be held in June. For more information, visit peterboroughpickleball.ca.
