Authorities teamed up for a targeted safety blitz on commercial motor vehicles in Peterborough and Cobourg. The joint effort, conducted last Thursday, resulted in a number of enforcement actions.
A total of 14 Provincial Offence Notices were handed out during the operation, along with 8 warnings. However, the most significant outcomes were the removal of 4 vehicles from service due to safety concerns. This included 2 trailers and 2 vehicles that were deemed unfit for the road.
The Traffic Unit, which recently certified one officer as a commercial motor vehicle inspector, plans to conduct these safety blitzes on a regular basis moving forward.
