Members of the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra are taking their music knowledge and talent on the road this Friday (April 26) to Lakefield District Public School.
More than 160 students from six local schools will come together for the annual Intermediate Band Day.
Led by orchestra music director and conductor Michael Newnham, the day will see music students provided coaching. In addition, a mass band performance involving the students will be held.
PSO General Manager Christie Goodwin says the benefits of the outreach are realized by both orchestra members and students.
Goodwin says the initiative is a support for teachers who are keeping music programs in their schools alive.
Goodwin says for many PSO members, including herself, the day brings back memories of their youthful introduction to, and love, of music.
