A recent downward trend in the number of monthly deaths attributed to poisoned drugs continued in March.
Peterborough Public Health is reporting five deaths last month connected to tainted drugs – down from six in February and seven in January.
In March, Peterborough paramedics responded to 33 drug-poisoning-related 9-1-1 calls, down slightly from 35 calls in the previous month.
But up in March were hospital emergency room visits related to suspected drug poisoning, with 48 made last month compared to 38 in February.
