Nominations are now open for an annual award that honours a person or organization that has mobilized positive change in the community.
First presented in 2004 to longtime philanthropists and community builders Paul and Ina Scholfield, the Scholfield Award of Community Distinction has been presented since by the United Way of Peterborough and District. The list of past recipients is a who’s who of voluntarism – Faith Dickinson, Survivors Abreast and Kathi Curtin Williams among them.
United Way development and communication officer Sara Mountenay says the award recognizes those who take action and inspire others do to likewise.
Mountenay says being in the room when the award is presented is inspiring on its own.
Mountenay says that recipients are so humble is typical of leaders.
Nominations are being accepted until June 15th. The nomination form can be downloaded at www.uwpeterborough.ca.
