Springtime comes with a cautionary note from the police: watch out for scammers.
The Peterborough Police Service is urging homeowners to stay vigilant this time of year, especially against paving and driveway sealant scams. These scams typically involve individuals claiming to have leftover materials from previous jobs and offering to fix or seal driveways for cash.
To avoid falling victim, residents are advised not to pay upfront, only pay for completed work, decline if uncertain or talk to someone you trust about the deal to get a second opinion.
If you or someone you know has fallen victim to a fraud or scam, you should contact the Peterborough Police Service at 704-876-1122 or file a report online at peterboroughpolice.com/online-reporting.
