Earth Week later this month will be marked in Peterborough via three initiatives highlighting awareness of the role we all play in protecting and sustaining the environment.
From April 26th to 29th, residents are invited to participate in City Nature Challenge at Ecology Park as well as nearby Beavermead and Farmcrest parks. Along with providing free guided nature walks, members of the Peterborough Field Naturalists will record the diversity and abundance of wildlife in all three locations.
More details are available peterborough.ca/Nature.
Meanwhile, the Great Community Litter Clean-Up will be held April 27th and 28th.
Groups are invited to register online for the location of the area they will clean up and will receive a litter pickup kit. Kits are available for pickup at the Public Works office on Webber Avenue.
And Earth Week will also see 1,000 new trees planted along city streets and in parks – part of the City’s commitment to manage the urban forest.
