In a bid to bolster healthcare accessibility and address the diverse needs of residents, Peterborough County has unveiled its new Healthcare Needs Assessment form. This innovative tool aims to gather crucial insights directly from the community to shape the future of healthcare in the region.
The Healthcare Needs Assessment form serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it seeks to collect valuable feedback on the health and human services desired by Peterborough County’s residents. This input will play a pivotal role in developing comprehensive healthcare solutions tailored to local needs.
Moreover, the assessment form allows residents to register their need for a primary care provider, serving as the official list for those without a family practitioner. Recognizing the challenges faced by many in accessing primary care and the burden of long-distance travel for healthcare services, the initiative strives to streamline processes and alleviate waitlist frustrations.
With the appointment of Lori Richey as Health Care Advancement Coordinator, Peterborough County and its eight lower-tier municipalities are hopeful for progress. Richey’s extensive experience and expertise are anticipated to contribute to the effectiveness of initiatives, aligned to the unique needs of the region.
“Our commitment extends beyond immediate solutions; it entails the meticulous implementation of a comprehensive, long-term strategy, shaped by the invaluable insights of our community members. Together, we are fostering a healthier future for the vibrant community of Peterborough County” says Richey.
Warden Bonnie Clark expressed the importance of the initiative, stating, “Improving healthcare accessibility is a priority for us. Through the Healthcare Needs Assessment, we’re empowering our residents to voice their needs and concerns, shaping a healthcare system that truly serves our community”.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the Healthcare Needs Assessment by completing the form available at ptbocounty.ca/yourhealthmatters. For those without internet access, a dedicated phone line at 705-930-4765 is available for assistance
