Ontario is set to inject billions of new dollars into health care, the budget for the upcoming fiscal year shows.
The province said it is investing $2 billion over three years in home care services, nearly $1 billion more for hospitals and hundreds of millions to expand primary care coverage.
The financial plan will also spend 546-million dollars over three years to connect approximately 600,000 people to primary health care.
Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith says this plan overall strikes the right chord.
Smith says this potential funding could help with plans for a development that has been long planned for Guthrie Drive.
He says another highlight is a new $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund.
According to the Ontario Budget, the government will invest an additional $446 million over three years on its primary care expansion strategy.
