A popular downtown Peterborough pub is under new ownership.
Desmond Vandenberg, who with his wife Maria has owned and operated The Black Horse on George Street since 2018, says it has been sold to Sajen Ganeshalingam. The Scarborough resident will take possession March 25th.
Vandenberg says the good news, for both patrons and local musicians, is the new owner plans to keep live entertainment on the menu.
Reflecting on his close to six years ownership of the pub, Vandenberg says it was a rollercoaster punctuated by the pandemic challenge. That said, it was a good fit from the get-go that just got better.
Since the sale was announced, Vandenberg says many have asked him what’s next on his plate.
Listed for $1.2 million last July, the pub’s selling price is unknown.
