As winter settles in, the City of Peterborough is inviting residents to embrace the season at a Free Family Skate Celebration, set to take place at Quaker Foods City Square on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm.
Councillor Lesley Parnell, who is encouraging residents to embrace the winter season, says the event will give people a chance to “shake off the January blahs in the fresh outdoor air having fun, getting exercise and connecting with our community”.
The event will feature a lively atmosphere with music provided by DJ Lynz as well as complimentary hot chocolate to stay warm during the frosty afternoon. Additionally, a limited supply of free toques from Call2Recycle, a not-for-profit organization focusing on battery recycling programs, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Quaker Foods City Square, located on Charlotte Street just east of Aylmer Street, offers a convenient venue a block south of the Peterborough Transit Terminal with parking available on-street or at the King Street Parkade next to the square.
For those without skates or helmets, you can rent them at Runner’s Life on Charlotte, just down the street from the outdoor rink.
This event is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to foster community engagement and promote active, winter-friendly activities for residents of all ages.
