Peterborough city councillors have supported changes to improve safety along a stretch of Woodglade Boulevard.
At Monday’s meeting, council voted to reduce of the speed limit from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr between Sherbrooke Street and Kawartha Heights Boulevard, and also add new crosswalks, at Ridgewood Road, Lynhaven Road and Oakwood Crescent.
A traffic operational review was done on Council’s direction to assess the existing traffic conditions on Woodglade, and it showed that vehicle speed and vehicle volume are comparable to other high-capacity collector roadways within the City of Peterborough. A total of three collisions have been reported in the past six years.
Council back in March tasked staff to study the area following the death of a small child along Woodglade in her family’s driveway.
