The new twin-pad arena and aquatics centre will be called the ‘Miskin Law Community Complex’.
City councillors officially approved selling the naming rights to the local law firm at Monday’s meeting for 10 years at a cost of $600,000.
According to a staff report, the financial terms of the sponsorship offer the City $90,000 per year for five years ($450,000), with the first payment coming upon execution of the agreement in 2023.
Miskin Law has a primary office located in Peterborough and satellite offices in Lindsay, and Whitby. The firm has a history of sponsoring local community organizations, including: Stage Naming Rights at Market Hall, Sponsorship of United Way, Kawartha Food Share, Peterborough Humane Society, Peterborough Sr. Lakers Lacrosse, Fourth Line Theatre, and Minor Petes Hockey teams.
Staff will now focus on seeking sponsors for the remaining naming rights: two ice pads, multi-purpose rooms, running track and a library branch.
