Dariia Lytvishko is a 27-year-old virtuoso who hails from Lutsk, Ukraine originally though she currently resides in Herford, Germany where she is an organist and choir director. She is also the Artist-in-residence of “De Principaal” in Ghent Belgium.
Her impressive résumé includes performances at prestigious venues such as Westminster Abbey in London, Oratoire du Louvre in Paris, and even the historic Pantheon in Rome.
As the conflict in Ukraine escalated, Dariia made a commitment to utilize her amazing talents to a higher purpose.
Dariia is continuing on a remarkable musical journey that has so far seen her perform over 30 benefit concerts in support of Ukraine across Germany, Belgium, France, and England to raise awareness not only about the immense and untenable loss of innocent human life but also the environmental devastation and loss of biodiversity caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
She is currently touring throughout Southern Ontario with nine benefit concerts scheduled, one of which is in Peterborough the evening of Tuesday, October 10th beginning at 7 pm at Emmanuel United Church on George Street.
Of course, one of the first questions we asked Dariia was what type of music she would be playing.
Her dedication to music and her unwavering support for Ukraine have made her a symbol of hope and resilience. She expressed her excitement for her upcoming performances, anticipating not only the opportunity to perform on exceptional instruments and in remarkable venues but also the chance to connect with the people she meets along the way.
Lytvishko said she hopes her performances will help unite cultures and brings hope to her native country. She believes this tour is a testament to the power of music to inspire change and uplift spirits in challenging times.
Dariia hopes you’ll come out and help support not only those in need in her home country but also Ukrainian refugees here in Canada and their various host groups.
