A Trees 4 Peterborough event held Saturday (September 23rd) saw 500 potted trees and 20 larger caliper trees planted in Bear Creek Woods Park off Franklin Drive in Peterborough.
Getting their hands dirty were Rotary Club of Peterborough members, Trent University Community Research Centre students and community members. Footing the bill for the trees were RBC Dominion Securities, The Excelsior Group and Peterborough Homes with Merritt Home Hardware lending the needed tools.
Urban trees provide a number of benefits, including reduced flooding risk, improved air quality and reduced heat build-up.
