The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) announced that professional boxer Cody Crowley has been honored as the co-recipient of the “Champion of Mental Health Award” during the 2023 Annual Meeting held on September 20th.
Sharing this prestigious accolade with co-winner Kristi MacMillan, Crowley’s dedication to advocating for mental health is commendable.
Crowley’s advocacy journey began in memory of his father, where he launched a campaign that successfully raised nearly $55,000 for suicide awareness and youth mental health. His efforts align seamlessly with CMHA HKPR’s mission of nurturing knowledge, hope, and a sense of belonging in the realm of mental health.
The Annual Meeting, hosted at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club, celebrated the organization’s remarkable growth and achievements over the past year.
Award recipients included:
- Kristi MacMillan, co-recipient of the Champion of Mental Health Award
- Wanda Findlay, honored with the Exemplary Values through Direct Service Staff Award
- Tracy Graham, recipient of the Administrative Service Staff Award
- Miles Leech, recognized with the Achievement Through Adversity Award
- Sherryl and Matt Wyatt, acknowledged with the Caregiver Champion Award for Family Members
- Johnathan Hauser, presented with the Maurice Lovnes Volunteer Award
- Impact Recovery and Century Theatre, recipients of the Naresh James Champion of Mental Health Award
CMHA HKPR has long been a pillar of support and advocacy for mental health in the community. The Annual Meeting served as an opportunity to celebrate the organization’s growth and achievements over the past year, featuring a live performance from The Reachers.
