One person is dead after a fire on Meadowview Road in the city’s east end yesterday morning.
At around 11:30, Peterborough Fire Services responded to reports of a structure fire with one occupant trapped inside.
Upon their arrival, heavy smoke was observed coming from the building, and it was confirmed that one person was unaccounted for.
Fire crews immediately initiated Search and Rescue Operations, which resulted in the discovery of the trapped occupant within the structure.
From there, fire crews transitioned to Suppression Operations, successfully extinguishing the fire.
Peterborough Fire Services was unable to provide any further information at this time, as the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Peterborough Police Services have take over the investigation.
